In Greek mythology, Hermes was a god of transitions and boundaries, and was able to move easily between the worlds of the divine and the mortal. As such, he, and his Roman counterpart, Mercury, came to be known as the messenger of the gods. Many depictions of Hermes show him with winged feet or slippers with wings to facilitate his mobility between worlds. A bout of athlete’s foot is the last thing he would want. Hermes might have turned to Good Sense for an assist.
